Lyons Ferry Walleye Fishing Report:

Here is last weeks Lyons Ferry walleye fishing report: You might think it’s early, but better think again! The water temps are hovering around 46 degrees in the main stem of the Snake. If you launch at the KOA campground and head accross river to the mouth of the Polouse, you’ll find water temps in the lower 50″s. For those that understand the spawn and what goes into it, that means GO time. Last week, fishing was really good and all depends on who you talk to. We spent most our time up river on flats with depths in the 15-25 foot range pulling deep diving plugs.
Hot Colors – Big Fish
Chartruese or red head was the hot colors. There was just a little current so using the electic felt stealthy. The fish are healthy with most meausing in that 20 inch range. We landed multiple fish in that 6-10 lb range that were released back to do it’s thing.

Crankbaits & Swimbiats Success
We mainly focused on chasing trophy fish, but there was abundant number of eater sized fish that couldn’t avoid our crankbaits. The weather was good and the winds super favorable so we spent some time throwing our favorite swim baits up on the shallows. Do you like to bass fish? This is the ultimate technique that favors catching smallmouth on our Dworshak Reservoir. We landed several big fish in that 4-10 foot depth which provides affirmation that the spawn is near.
Latest River Conditions
The last few days the Snake muddied up and chased anglers off the river. The only really opportunity to catch fish was up the Polouse, and that proved effective for a few guides. The main stem will start to clear in the next few days and should get back to that stellar fishing we were experiencing.
In closing, If you don’t want to make the drive to the Columbia and want to catch quality fish, give the Snake River a try or call our guide service, 208-503-3878 and we’ll put you on fish. BTW, the Lyons Ferry area is a sneaky world class walleye fishery.
