Fall Steelhead Fishing in Lewiston
Fall season in Lewiston Idaho marks the beginning of our steelhead run that will fish well in to the month of March. Cool nights and the bright orange yellow blend of leaves make no mistake that steelhead season is here. Our crystal clear river comes to life with chrome slabs traveling through white riffled water where they feel hidden.
I love this time of year when hooking in to one of these big brutes gets the adrenaline pumping. Acrobatic fish bending your rod in half while the drag from our Shimano reels sing as line stripped out. That distinct sound and feel confirms the phrase “Fish On”. Boondogging or side drifting our special egg set up can produce many double-digit days with our guides.
Our team fishes the top of the line Gary Loomis Edge rods that provide us the lightest, strongest, most sensitive rod in the world. Each one of our fishing guides sport the finest custom jet boat to accommodate large groups and fish any river condition. We also offer drift boat trip through our main guide Bryan Miller who owns and operates Swift Water Outfitters.
New for 2014 is our night fishing trips with our back-trolling specialist Craig Hay who will offer a different style of fishing. Pulling his lighted plugs tipped with a special headhunter bait gives Stott’s a new flavor to steelhead fishing. We are fortunate to have such a diversified staff that can offer our clients trips that will cater to their liking. As the cliche goes, we are loaded for BEAR.
