Columbia River walleye fishing report:

March walleye fishing has been nothing short of spectacular. Our guide team continues to catch great numbers of walleye along with Big fish for the trophy chasing enthusiast. We are throwing a lot of curveballs at the walleye, swimbaits, jigs, cranks, blades have all been effective. The early morning bite has been good up on flats and edges, pulling shallow diving crankbaits. We tend to target the bigger fish that time a day. The afternoon gets exciting verticle jigging, staying in contact with the bottom of a little deeper water. A lot of our eater size fish come from this column of water but don’t sleep on the bigger tug that sticks and peels line. If you are in to using bass fishing techniques, throwing swimbaits can and has been super effective. Find a short flat with a little drop off and rocky bankside and you’ll find walleye. Most of our fishing has been tucked in around islands with points and dropoffs that has near-by flats. It shouldn’t be much longer before the mouth of the creeks and tributaries get hot. If you are into pulling harnesses and simply just want some eater sized walleye, find the 30-40 foot edges and make sure you keep contact with the bottom. In closing, don’t miss out on the March frenzy, this is Prime Time!
