Clearwater River Spring Salmon Coming
Clearwater River Spring Salmon season is about to fire up. Idaho’s Clearwater River salmon run is a bit late this year and the fish are on the way. We’ve seen over 8000 fish come over the dam this week which will create some great fishing. As advertised, with the run on the late side that means we will get to fish into the month of June. The State of Idaho has issued a 4 day per week window for Clearwater River outfitters to operate business.
Clearwater River Fishing Techniques
The Clearwater River is a tributary of the Snake River which dumps into the Columbia River. The Columbia River flows over 400 miles until it finally reaches the mouth of the Pacific Ocean in Astoria. Fishing on the Clearwater River seams to differ from other Salmon fisheries. Our guide service fishes other fisheries throughout the state of Washington. Each fishery is unique and offers a variety of fishing techniques used to catch Salmon. Because our Clearwater fish have traveled 400 miles, our baits are loaded with salt and sulfites. We like to use Pro-Cures egg cure, back trolled behind a Brad’s Diver.
Clearwater River Fishing Report
Bryan was out yesterday making his clients happy with some nice fish in the box. It only gets better and we are looking forward to some great days. We are taking bookings now for Thursdays through Sundays for the next 3 weeks or until the state feels like we have met our quota. These clearwater salmon are some of the best tasting fish for the BBQ and we have 5 full time guides to make that happen. Our guides use Gary Loomis Edge Rods matched with Shimano’s Tecota reels. We guarantee 8 hours of fishing and most importantly, fishing memories that last a lifetime.
