Clearwater River Springers Season
The spring chinook season kicked off on April 25th this season. Three weeks before the typical opener of May 15.
Unlike most seasons of recent memory, we have seen a surplus of fish over Lower Granite Dam on/before the opener. 24,276 adult salmon already!!!!!
As a guide on the Clearwater, I was slightly concerned that the fish may be early and the run would be over before our clients had a chance to get at them by the middle of May.
After ten consecutive days of fishing the Clearwater River I’m convinced that we have not begun to see the peak of Clearwater fish. The fish counts over Bonneville and Mcnary remain at historic highs. This can only mean the majority of our fish are still coming toward us.
All signs point to the best inland spring chinook run in the last decade!
