Our Core Values

When you fish with us, you become part of our fishing family. Every decision we make has been built around the same core family values we learned from our parents when we were young. When you put family first, care factor becomes important. All our guides are husbands and fathers and know life’s important details. Showing care and taking interest in people is important to us. We hired the best guides that have those same core values and know when booking one of them, our clients are in great hands. We are proud of our fishing brand and know we have a standard to live up to with our fishing clients. It all started at the top with Mel and Jean Stottlemyre. Thanks Mom and Dad!

A Family Team of Fishing

Their other passion in life is fishing, something they’ve enjoyed as a family throughout the Pacific Northwest. Mel Sr. and Mel Jr. took their fishing passion to the rivers of the Northwest and brought their outfitting vision to life. They formed their brand, river fishing guides, and built a successful fishing business around their core values.

The Stottlemyre family is proud of our accomplishments in both life’s passions, baseball and fishing. Our family has spent a lifetime in Major League Baseball, playing and coaching, combining more than 70 years between my dad Mel Sr, brother Todd and myself. It’s been an honor to continue carrying on his legacy in Major League Baseball but my greatest satisfaction in life is to treat folks to a fishing adventure they won’t forget. As kids, Todd, Jason and I were fortunate that our dad took the time to take us with him on elk hunting trips in the Cascade Mountains and steelhead fishing on the rivers throughout the Northwest. We fished the Yakima, Klickitat, Cowlitz, Columbia, Snake, Clearwater, Grande Ronde, John Day, and most of the reservoirs throughout Washington state.

Fishing With Baseball Legends

During the baseball season, my brothers and I would get a chance to fish with some of the Yankee greats like Mickey Mantle and Thrumon Munson, 2 of our boyhood idols. Growing up in Yankee stadium was like a fairy tale for my brothers and I. Needless to say, baseball has provided our family with a great life, something none of us will ever take for granted.

Lewiston Idaho Hooks Stotts

In 2000, I moved my family to Lewiston Idaho, a place I fell in love with 40 years ago. My dad use to bring my brothers and I to hunt deer and elk in the and catch steelhead in the Clearwater River. That love for the area led me to an offseason guiding job that I had doubts about. I love to fish for myself and knew I would have to give part of that up. Well I was wrong, what I really found out was that while I was sharing my boat with other anglers, it was me keeping the back rod at the perfect angle and in the slot. In a sense, I felt like I was still fishing. Fast forward 8 years and my life-long fishing partner and we formed Stott’s Fishing Adventures. My dad was the driving force behind me guiding and knew that I would fall in love with it. Our company came to life in 2009, going strong today with 6 full time guides that work on 5 awesome fisheries, fishing 12 months out of the year.

Why Us?

Book Your River Fishing Trip

When booking a guided fishing trip, we understand that there are lots of guide and outfitters to choose from. The Pacific Northwest offers some of the best sport fishing in the country. Choosing the right outfitter for your group is a key part to having a great fishing experience. Our river fishing guides understand the important factors to choosing an outfitter. We stand behind our company motto “More than Fishing” which embraces the total fishing experience. Our family formed the best team of guides that are knowledgeable and hard working with core, family values. We teamed up with the industries best fishing companies and outfitted each guide with top of the line equipment and boats. Our shore-line BBQ lunches are a big part of each adventure. We know that there might be less expensive fishing outfitters out there, we just chose to offer our clients a little more.

Top Notch Equipment

In the begging phases of building our fishing brand we made the decision that we wanted our clients to fish the best equipment, cast from the best jet boats that provided a safe and comfortable platform, and fish with the hardest working guides on the water. We partnered with Gary Loomis and the Edge Rod company, custom built our boats, and hired our hard-working fishing team. We are super fortunate to partner up with the industries finest companies that provide us with the best gear. Thanks to Edge Rods, Diawa Fishing, Gamakatsu, Pro-Cure Bait Scents, Yakima Bait, Costa Delmar Sunglasses, Yeti Coolers, Vortex Optics.

Year Round Fishing

Stotts Fishing Adventures chases fish year-round on Pacific Northwest’s finest fisheries throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Although we built our fishing brand on the Clearwater River in Lewiston Idaho, we took our fishing team to the following fisheries: Columbia River, Snake River, Buoy10, Wind River, Drano Lake, Hanford Reach, Grande Ronde, John Day, Potholes Reservoir and Moses Lake. The Pacific northwest has many species of fish throughout its river systems. Our fishing guide service took the time to become experts in Salmon, Steelhead, Sturgeon, Walleye, and Bass. We also catch perch, crappie, bluegill, and catfish while fishing on our walleye trips. Our guides are always striving to stay in the forefront of using the latest techniques. We’ll be happy to recommend prime time fishing at each one of our fisheries. Our team is here to help with travel and lodging arrangements too!

World Class Steelhead

Our prize fishery, the Clearwater River B-Run Steelhead is considered a World Class fishery. What makes this fishery so special is the quality of fish that return to the river every fall. Every season, we put many fish over 20 lb. in our nets with some lucky angler high fiving and grinning ear to ear. Anglers throughout the Northwest also know that it’s not uncommon to catch 15-20 fish in a day. Side drifting is our most effective method to catching our fish but there are times, bobber dogging or backtrolling bait can be deadly. This is why anglers come from all over the World to fish with us.

Custom Jet Boats

Most of our fishing we do throughout the course of our season is on rivers that have fluctuating water flows. Chasing fish on so many different rivers and reservoirs has its challenges. Making sure our clients have a safe and comfortable fishing platform is crucial to our success. Our boats are jet propelled for running shallow waters while providing a wide platform to fish from. We are licensed to fish 6 anglers per boat, plus a deckhand. Most of our boats range from 24 ft to 26 ft in length with some having windshields. All our captains are coast guard certified, insured, bonded, and first aid certified. On every trip, we cook our anglers a hot BBQ lunch, so the name Weber is prevalent on board. New in 2019 is our Special Edition, custom wrap featuring a Mel Sr. engraved pic into our really cool Stott’s Logo.

The Starting Lineup

Our company fishing brand is built around our hard, working guides. When Stott’s fishing was in the infant stages, we talked about building a brand that clients would be proud of. Our first order of business was to formulate a team of the best fishing guides that possessed the intangibles that Pops and I were looking for. Being loyal to our brand, working hard for our clients, committing to the process, and keeping a relentless approach to becoming the best river fishing guides on the water. Also essential was to interact and coach our clients to becoming better anglers throughout the day.

Our team of river fishing guides work year-round and make guiding their full-time job. We fish in 9 different locations throughout the Northwest which means, they travel and are away from their families. This is commitment! We have a variety of species that we fish for in each fishery, and so much goes into staying ahead of the learning curve. Our guides are super diverse with the latest techniques that give our anglers the best chance to catch fish.  We feel it is important to our fishing clients that they get to know who our guides are. Our guides work exclusively for Stott’s Fishing and we DO NOT contract out other guides. To provide the best fishing experience for our anglers, our guides do not fish along with the clients. We’ll take the time to teach you, how and where to cast, and the hookset is where it all happens. Our guide service feels very good in saying that our guides take great care of our fishing guests. Thanks for being part of our fishing family.
